A Brief History of Vietnamese Baptist Church — Arlington

In 1977 Pastor Đào¹ started a mission at Cliff Temple Baptist Church in South Dallas. There were about ten persons at the beginning and after a year and a half the congregation grew to about thirty members.

In 1978 the mission moved to Beckley Hill Baptist Church on I-35 E.

In 1980 Pastor Đào and some persons started another mission in Garland because there were more Vietnamese who lived in Garland at the time. Later on the two missions were united in Garland and was sponsored by First Baptist Church of Garland.

In 1990 Pastor Đào was called to serve another church in Portland, Oregon. The Vietnamese Baptist Church of Garland called Pastor Nguyễn Tấn Dương to be her pastor.

In 1993 a group of about 20 members from Vietnamese Baptist Church of Garland who lived in Arlington started a mission in Arlington. This mission was sponsored by First Baptist Church of Arlington.

Pastor Tô Văn Quan was the first pastor of the mission. After that Pastor Lê Văn Quyền came and served until 1998.

In 1999 Pastor Đào came back to Dallas to complete his Doctorate Degree at Dallas Theological Seminary. Vietnamese Mission at Arlington called Pastor Đào to pastor the church. The church at this time also urgently pray to build a church of its own and in the beginning of 2000 the church building was built on 4515 SW. Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76017.²

The congregation of Vietnamese Baptist Church, Arlington³ grew to 200 members. The church needed more rooms for education so we built the activity building in 2005.

In 2006 Pastor and Mrs Nguyễn Ngọc Long came to serve with the youth and English services.
